Cheruit, 1912
Donated by the estate of Minnie Cassatt. This white and gold silk brocade evening gown needs lots of work to preserve its original, rich detail. The panniers and short, split train, lined in gold lamé, and the surplice top, are signature details of the Poiret Fashion Revolution period. An elaborate, lamé sash ends in two, beaded tassels. The lamé has become crushed and damaged in places. The rich crystal beading and Alencon lace used in the underskirt are in need of repair.
