Charles
Worth, 1912
Charles Worth, considered the father of couture, created this pale gold two
piece, silk, wedding gown for a member of the Drexel family. The bodice and
skirt are embroidered in a pointe d'esprit pattern. Alencon lace is used to
create the collar and sleeves. Although the exterior of this garment is in fairly
good condition, the inside has deteriorated and needs to be replaced. The Drexel
collection features fifteen gowns by Charles Worth. number 64.10 a,b,
